With the Melbourne City Council lord mayoral race heating up, one 13-year-old Greek-Australian budding cartoonist has created a series of vibrant art works depicting this year’s candidates.

Year 8 student Madison Eve’s caricature art shows the mayoral candidates promoting everything from free coffee to cash grants and subsidised travel.

AFL great turned Lord Mayor candidate Anthony Koutoufides is among those she has transformed into art works.

“There is a real push to breathe new life into the city and I wanted to add a splash of colour to the campaign trail and create some vibrant art work to reflect that,” Madison told Neos Kosmos.

“I believe that laughter is the best medicine and I want my art to convey a feeling of hope and positivity and to symbolise brighter times ahead for this great city that we live in.”

She also told Neos Kosmos that she received feedback on her “Coffee and Kouta” caricature from the man himself.

“Thank you so much Madison, I love this. Best of luck with your vision, don’t let anyone stop you,’ Koutoufides said.

Madison was recently crowned News Corporation’s Junior Journalist of the Year for her story about how young people are fighting back against bullying.

She developed a love of art and writing during Victoria’s COVID-19 lockdowns.

Some of these artworks have also been created calling for world peace and an end to the horrors of war.

“There is so much instability in the world right now and kids may be having a hard time processing what they are seeing and hearing,” Madison said.

“I want my art to convey a feeling of hope and to promote peace and harmony because that’s exactly what the world needs right now.”

Other high-profile names she has transformed into art are American President Joe Biden, former president Donald Trump, singer Taylor Swift, and Prince Harry and Megan Markle.
