Gladys Liu is a prominent figure in Australian politics, and was the first ethnically Chinese member of the House of Representatives for the Division of Chisholm in Victoria.
Gladys arrived in Australia from Hong Kong in 1985 at 21 years old to study speech pathology on a full scholarship, and has since had a significant presence in both the business world and community sphere. Liu is a single mother of 2 grown up children – Derek, a Harvard MBA graduate and Sally, the Australian Girls Champion for Chess and a Princeton scholar.
Liu has a vision to make Melbourne a vibrant, multicultural and welcoming city, and to return it to its former status as the Most Liveable City in the World for now and future generations to inherit. Gladys will put residents and rate payers first and pledges to deliver positive changes to make Melbourne busy again, to drive people into the city to support businesses and promote our amazing cultural, arts and sporting scene.

His achievements in philanthropy are notable. Ramani funded the construction of a mosque in Reservoir, a project that not only provided a place of worship but also symbolized community cohesion. Olivia’s remarkable career includes a Junior Circuit Ranking of 39, career-high World Singles Ranking of 350 and World Doubles Ranking of 100.
Olivia brings passion, stamina, discipline and an incredibly hard work ethic to Team Kouta and as your Local Councillor elect. Her journey and interests go beyond tennis – her international touring has afforded her first-hand experience of the major, international cities of the world. She has seen first-hand what works and does not for cities such as Melbourne, and hopes to bring this wealth of understanding and policy to the chamber as your representative.
Olivia knows the profound impact of both mental and physical wellness on residents’ daily lives. Mental health and wellbeing as well as physical fitness are close to Olivia’s heart. She is committed to fostering an environment where mental health and physical fitness are at the forefront of our agenda, with Local Council hosted classes and events and more support for mental health support services.
